5-Day Free Challenge

Get Content Into Your Learners Long Term Memory

Practical Techniques to Help Maximise Retention

Getting content into our learners long term memory is not quite as simple as telling them.  That content must pass some pretty strict gatekeepers (filters) along its journey to long term memory - and these gatekeepers like nothing more than discarding your content.

This 5-day challenge has been designed to give you the 'inside' information about what these gatekeepers like and dislike.  Armed with this information, along with some practical techniques that you can use to woo each gatekeeper, your content will be well on their way to your learners long term memory.

The live events will take place each day between 7-11 November 2022 from 1500-1520 GMT UK time each day.

To help you achieve your challenge

  • Day 1 - Getting your content past the first brain filter (gatekeeper) the RAS.
This will give you the techniques to ensure that you 'wake-up' the RAS so that it passes your content to the second filter.  If you don't wake up the RAS, your content will fail at the first filter and simply be ignored.
  • Day 2 - Getting your content past the second brain filter (gatekeeper) the Amygdala.
Put your learners Amygdala into a potentially threatening situation and your content will be discarded in favour of 'survival'.   Use these simple techniques will keep the Amygdala calm and happy to pass on your content to the third filter.
  • Day 3 - Getting your content past the third brain filter (gatekeeper) the Hippocampus.
Take away the techniques to use that will help your learners Hippocampus realise that the content must be important and that it 'tells' your learners long term memory (Pre-Frontal Cortex) where would be a good place to store it for future recall.
  • Day 4 - Getting your content into long term memory the Pre-Frontal Cortex.
Techniques that will help your learners Pre-Frontal Cortex in it's role to be able to reference and recall content when it's needed.  Without this, the content may be stored but with no mechanism to find and recall it.
  • Day 5 - Moving into the real world.
How to maximise the potential of new content being used within the work environment.  Identifying the person responsible for holding learners accountable for the application of content (it's not us trainers and it's not our learners).  What practical steps you need to take to ensure this happens an content stays front and centre in our learners brain.

NB - Each day looks at the brain science, but the emphasis will be on the practical techniques that you can use to ensure your content makes it not only into your learners long term memory, but that it actually gets used within your learners real world.

This will help you to ...

  • Keep learners engaged throughout their training.
  • Add variety to your training.
  • Structure your training to maximise learning retention.
  • Uncover some of the latest research related to how the brain learns from the world of neuro and cognitive science.
  • Be confident that the activities and techniques you use has a purpose - especially when challenged with the 'why don't you just tell them rather than all this 'other stuff' you do?'

We Start on Monday 7 November 2022 for 5 Consecutive Days
