Add Learner Testimonials To Workbooks
We tend to associate testimonials with sales, but why not consider testimonials as a kind of ‘sales’ to build credibility and get buy-in from your learners. After all, if works for sales, why wouldn’t it work for training?
But how and where?
Training Outline
The obvious place is within your training outlines. Rather than just describing the training and its benefits, why not include some real life results that previous learners have achieved as a result of being part of this training, eg
- Sales – Examples from learners where the training has:
– Increased lead generation by x %.
– Increased sales revenue by £x.
– Reduced the sales cycle time by x amount of time. - Train-the-Trainer – examples:
– Reduced design time by x%.
– Increased confidence by having a firm training structure to follow.
– Eliminated difficult learners.
– Able to demonstrate a true ROI for training. - Appraisal Training – examples:
– Reduced absenteeism by x amount.
– Saved x amount of time preparing for appraisal meetings.
– Fostered working as a team.
Workbook
Not such an obvious location to add testimonials, but a very powerful way to build buy-in and credibility for specific parts of the training eg:
- At the beginning of each topic of the workbook there are quotes from previous learners on how this section has helped them to increase something (eg sales) or decreased something (eg time spent on a specific task).
- For specific phrases, formula, models within the workbook, add testimonials how this one key point has helped in their everyday work.
Additional ideas
- Why not collect some end of day comments from pervious learners and compile a ‘What previous people have said at the end of this training’ sheet and either hand this out as learners arrive or include it at the front of the workbook.
- Testimonials can also be used by you (ie spoken) as you introduce a new topic.
NOTE – For all testimonials, you need the person’s name and ideally (but not essential) their photograph. Without their name, sceptics will think that you simply made-up the testimonial.
