Looking At Live Virtual Training Differently
Starting Thursday 14 November 2024
Welcome
My name's David Gibson and I'll be your training facilitator for your workshop, 'Looking At Live Virtual Training Differently'.
Your training website contains all the information that you need for our time together including:
- Dates and times
- Handouts and resources
- Who you'll be working with
Resources will be added following each live episode.
Below is a short video questionnaire I'd like you to watch and complete prior to start of your training. It should take you no longer than 7-minutes to watch the 'welcome' message from me and complete the video questionnaire.

Training Structure
Your workshop is made up of 5 episodes, spaced over 3-days. Day 1 (episodes 1 and 2) and Day 2 (episodes 3 and 4) will be 3-hours and day 3 (episode 5) will be 90-minutes. Each of your episodes will be looking at a different part of live virtual training design and facilitation.
Below is a tab for each day we'll be working together. It contains the handouts that you'll need during your training, so please have these available - either printed or in PowerPoint (I'll also attach them to the MS Teams invite to make things easy.)
This is not a sit back and watch type of training - it's a roll up your sleeves and get designing workshop - hence you being given an existing module to review during our time together. You can then apply ideas and techniques directly to these modules as we go.
So that you get the most from our time together, can I ask you to keep your webcams on throughout your training and continually participate. Don't worry, I'll never put you on the spot or ask you something without giving time prior to consider your possible response.
A collection of resources following our time together. If I've missed anything, just let me know and I'll add them to this page. I'll add resources following each module.

Episode 1
Separating The Need-To-Know Content From The Nice-To-Know Content
This episode will take you along the path of being able to decide what training can and cannot help achieve and from that, whether training is really the solution to what you (and the organisation) currently see as a performance gap – because training is not the solution to everything.
If training is going to be the solution, then you’ll write the aim of the training. With that aim in mind, we’ll then use a matrix to select the key content that the business needs your learners to start using that they are not using now.
