Looking At Training And Design Differently
Welcome
My name is David Gibson and I'll be your training facilitator for your workshop, 'Looking At Training And Design Differently'.
Your training website contains all the information that you need for you our time together including:
- Dates and times
- Links to our virtual platform (Google Meet)
- Handouts and resources
- etc
To make sure that you get exactly what you're hoping for from your training, I'd like you to take around 6-minutes and complete the questionnaire towards the bottom of this page. Please complete this before the start of your main training on Thursday 21 April 2022.
Below is a short video I thought you might find useful.
Structure
Your workshop is made up of 8 episodes, each one looking at a different part of training and training design.
Below is a tab for each day we will be working together. It contains the link for that episode plus the handouts that you'll need during your training, so please have these available - either printed or in PowerPoint (I belive you use Google Sheets but these should import easily).
We will be using Google Meet for your workshop.
I'm looking forward to starting to work with you on Thursday 21 April 2022 for 'How to separate Need-to-Know content from Nice-to-Know content.

Separating The Need-To-Know Content From The Nice-To-Know Content
Start time - 14:00 GMT
Duration - 90 Minutes
This episode will take you along the path of being able to decide what training can and cannot help achieve and from that, whether training is really the solution to what you (and the organisation) currently see as a performance gap – because training is not the solution to everything.
If training is going to be the solution, then you’ll write the aim of the training. With that aim in mind, we’ll then use a matrix to select the key content that the business needs your learners to start using that they are not using now.

How To Measure The Impact Of Training
Start time - 13:00 GMT
Duration - 45 Minutes
I'm sure if I asked the sales team, "How much money did you bring to Randstad last week, last month, last quarter?", that they could tell me to the penny. But if I ask you now, how much did your training bring to the organisation last week, last month, last quarter that you'd struggle to answer. You might be able to tell me how much it cost for the training but not the return. Until now!!!
